WAGE                                     $63,700 - $72,800 pro rata, plus superannuation (commensurate with experience)

DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE

The Producer will support the Company, primarily the Executive Director and Artistic Director, in all aspects of producing the company’s works including international license development and management, market development strategies locally and abroad, presentation negotiations, and financing, contracting and supporting the development of new creative work. The Producer will work closely with the team to develop opportunities for new work, and support the Executive Director to secure funding and partnerships with key collaborators and presenters.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Project management, long term planning, and logistics across a range of projects simultaneously

  • Maintain positive, effective working relationships with partners, presenters, funders and other stakeholders

  • Managing Erth’s existing international license arrangements

  • Seek and foster new international opportunities for the company’s works

  • Manage relationships with a range of existing and potential presenters nationally and overseas

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the Company’s touring circuits and commissions as a means of ensuring the financial viability of the Company

  • Oversee all presentation planning and negotiations including budget development/management, presentation contracts, artist contracts and project logistics

  • Manage production expenditure in line with budgets

  • Prepare grant applications, financial reporting and acquittals to funding agencies

  • Work collaboratively and flexibly within the company’s management team, to support problem solving across all aspects of project delivery, as required.

  • Manage a small team from time to time to ensure the smooth delivery of all company seasons and projects

KEY CHALLENGES

  • Erth works in a highly responsive manner; projects can change rapidly, issues may need urgent and lateral thinking in response to unforeseen complexities

  • Erth has established a number of license arrangements with international producers, which require careful monitoring and management

  • Continuing to build a dynamic and sustainable touring model

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Qualification in Arts, Events, Production (or similar), and/or experience producing in a performing arts environment

  • Experience in project management, driving the delivery of theatrical productions through supporting professional artists, creatives and technicians

  • High level relationship management skills with extensive experience in contract negotiations

  • Budget development, monitoring and management skills with experience of commercial arts business models

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, remaining responsive and adaptable

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Experience in developing and managing national and international touring projects

  • Successful track record in identifying, securing and acquitting funding from Government as well as philanthropic and/or other sources

  • Understanding of the particular requirements of physical performance and experience in facilitating outdoor productions and events

  • A sophisticated understanding of current trends and opportunities in the Australian performing arts scene with an emphasis on the Physical Theatre sector
