FAUNA:
Soft Forest/The Nature of Things
Slip beneath the city’s buzz: here, time slows, breath deepens, and the world above feels far away.
At the centre of this living artwork is Fauna, an enchanting creature born of ancient mycelium, the hidden network that threads beneath every forest floor.
She is part plant, part animal and carries the voices of the trees. Fauna shares their stories with quiet wonder, guiding curious minds to reflect on our place in the natural world and how we might protect it.
As she moves through the space, the air fills with a dreamy soundscape. Trees sing, and a shimmering swarm of fireflies dance in her wake. The atmosphere is meditative and magical, inviting you to slow down, listen and rediscover your sense of connection to nature.
Part performance, part gentle meditation, Soft Forest is a rare chance to step away from the rush and experience a moment of calm, beauty and renewal away from the busy streets.
Add a selection of Erth’s menagerie of endangered animal puppets for The Nature of Things - as Fauna helps tell the story of our role in conserving the fragile ecosystem on our delicate planet.
Fauna is available to activate green spaces and urban environments alike, connecting audiences with nature: either as a roving performance, or as a bespoke curated happening as part of a festival or event. We can record the biometric sounds of your local trees to create site specific meditative Tree Listening zones, and work with your community to bring to life this interactive performance.
Fauna was commissioned by City of Sydney and was originally presented by the City as Soft Forest for Art & About Sydney in September 2025
